ANNUAL INDUSTRY INTERNSHIPS

Annual industry internship is compulsory for all students. Every year, during the course of summer, MCE arranges internships for its students in top-tier companies/ industries across the country. MCE has updated summer internship plan for MCE students from year 2019 with help of E-in-C. The aim is to improve the ability of MCE students to apply theoretical knowledge in actual projects/ practical sites. Quality internships are only possible by involving the leading construction organizations to formulate a mechanism of internship for MCE students.

As very few internships were completed on face-to-face basis in 2020 due to the pandemic and it was observed that the students may lack the ability to apply civil engineering knowledge while executing projects on field. For constant exposure of students to construction project execution, planning and management, with directions from E-in-C, MCE in partnership with all the leading construction industries, including FWO, MES, NLC, DW&CE, Housing Dte and other major organizations, revised the internship plan for MCE students in 2021. All these industries are in loop with MCE via focal persons to organize effective internships for MCE students. After completion of their respective internship, along with the submission of feedback forms, every student has to undertake ‘post assessment evaluation exam for internees’ and has to submit a detailed internship report.

MCE has organized internships for over 210 students for 2nd & 3rd year students in summer 2021; primarily at Jaglot Skardu Road Project, Havelian Dhamtour Road Project, Jagran Hydropower Project, Dedocha Dam Project, Ammar Chowk Rawalpindi, Housing Directorate Rawalpindi, Housing Directorate Lahore, Housing Directorate Karachi and various other projects/ organizations.
